Project Overview
Seaside Impressions (Hailuodon hiekkarannat), a solo violin piece by violinist Silja Lassila, was recorded in one take and was part of the Hailuoto Music Festival 2020 program. The work, based on live improvisation, features multi-layered sounds created using an electric violin and a looper.
Drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings, it evokes the distant sound of the sea, the rustling wind in the reeds, and the song of foamy waves. The piece also pays homage to Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Cantus arcticus, a concerto for birds and orchestra.
Services Involved
My Role & Contributions
I managed the entire video production process, including recording, editing, and creating additional sound effects to replicate the atmosphere of the seascape. Elisa Vesterbacka collaborated on the visual concept and designed the lighting setup for the performance, which was recorded at Hailuoto Church and Marjaniemi on June 23, 2020.
This project later evolved into a continuation in a similar format but at a new location: Nallikari, Oulu.
