Project Overview
Pianist Harri Laakkonen and double bassist Ari Kivelä set out to explore how familiar Finnish folk songs and melodies could be reimagined in a modern context. Their arrangements range from deeply contemplative to exuberantly swinging, culminating in a program aptly titled Jatsia suomeksi (Jazz in Finnish). This unique concept became part of the Hailuoto Music Festival 2021. Longtime friends and collaborators, Harri and Ari have performed together in various ensembles for years, developing a deep understanding of each other’s musical interpretation.

My Role & Contributions
As the festival’s executive producer, I ensured the smooth and successful realization of the concert. Additionally, I captured the performances in high quality, resulting in four published video segments.
