Project Overview
The opening concert of the Hailuoto Music Festival 2023, held at the local youth house, encapsulated the festival’s warm and vibrant atmosphere.
A diverse lineup of classical music performances set the stage. Cellist Joonas Vapaavuori and pianist Kristoffer Gylling delighted the audience with Oskar Merikanto‘s Valse lente. Kristoffer also showcased his versatility by accompanying violinist Annu Heikkilä on the harmonium in Niccolò Paganini‘s renowned Cantabile.
Niina Mäkiharju presented a unique solo program, combining the expressive versatility of the viola, the rich tones of the two-row accordion, and her own vocal performance. Closing the concert, the talented violinist sisters Dhyani Gylling and Susila Heath charmed the audience with short pieces by Jean-Marie Leclair and Béla Bartók.
Additionally, Oulunsalon Näppärit, a young fiddler group performing traditional Ostrobothnian folk music, brought a lively touch to the program.
