Project Overview
This story-driven concert offers a glimpse into the life and atmosphere of the J.W. and Jeanette Snellman family 150 years ago. It is a direct sequel to Ship Toivo Oulu’s Farewell Festival, performed in 2021. The concert combined history and music to transport the audience back to a 19th-century Oulu salon.
Services Involved
My Role & Contributions
As the concert’s executive producer, I ensured its seamless planning and execution. In a separate capacity as technical producer, I recorded and produced high-quality audiovisual content for the festival, culminating in several YouTube videos showcasing this unique performance. Elisa Vesterbacka provided additional still photography for the project via a separate photoshoot organized in advance.
Oulu-based TerwaTrio performed Romantic-era works for soprano, clarinet, and piano, embodying historical characters central to the story:
- Virve Karén (soprano) as Ida Basilier
- Mika Ryhtä (clarinet) as Mikael Planting
- Sanna Smolander (piano) as Susan Söderholm
The program included compositions by Felix Mendelssohn, Louis Spohr, Franz Schubert, Franz Lachner, Erik Tulindberg, Leevi Madetoja, and Johannes Kalliwoda.
