Project Overview
Baroque Mass, the traditional service accompanied by Baroque music and often performed with period instruments, has become a cornerstone of the Hailuoto Music Festival.
The Baroque Mass in 2024 featured recorder (Teea Pospiech) and violin (François Pineau-Benois, Sonja Tuomela, Sinikka Ala-Leppilampi). Hymns were led by the Hailuoto Church Choir under the direction of cantor Mari Liukkonen. The service marked a special milestone as the tenth and final Baroque Mass officiated by Hailuoto’s vicar Timo Juntunen during his tenure.
Services Involved
François Pineau-Benois
Concert Violinist & Professor
Rachmaninoff Conservatory, Paris
I strongly support Eero Karvonen. He is an excellent audiovisual engineer and a talented composer. Working on projects with him and playing his music is always a pleasure.
My Role & Contributions
Due to an unexpected issue with the internet connection, the planned livestreaming system failed. In response, I was commissioned by the Hailuoto Congregation to capture the entire service with a multi-camera setup and master it for a later on-demand online release on Virtuaalikirkko.fi. This adaptation ensured that the event reached its audience in a polished format, preserving its significance for both the local community and the festival’s followers.
With the kind permission from the Hailuoto Congregation, we we’re also allowed to upload the mass in its entirety on Oulunsalo Ensemble’s YouTube channel, along with select excerpts, all of which you can also watch below.
