Project Overview
Soprano Eeva Hartemaa, baritone Petteri Lehikoinen, and harpist Lily-Marlene Puusepp brought a magical summer ambiance to the Hailuoto Music Festival 2021 with lyrical songs accompanied by harp – performing together as a trio for the very first time. Their one-hour program featured Finnish compositions by Einojuhani Rautavaara, Oskar Merikanto, Leevi Madetoja, and Kimmo Hakola, alongside international classics by Alphonse Hasselmans, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, and Franz Liszt.
The harp’s close association with French romantic music was evident throughout the concert; French composers such as Fauré, Debussy, and Liszt often wrote piano accompaniments that naturally translate into the shimmering tones of the harp. The Finnish repertoire drew inspiration from the poetry of Finland’s national literary figures.
