Photoshoot for a Christmas Tour

Petrus Schroderus the Singing Policeman & Oulunsalo Ensemble

Photography

2020

Project Overview

In November 2021, HeartBrain Oy organized a Christmas concert tour featuring the “singing policeman,” Petrus Schroderus, and the Oulunsalo Ensemble Quartet, performing beloved Finnish Christmas songs by composers like Jean Sibelius, Leevi Madetoja, and Kassu Halonen.

The quartet included Sinikka Ala-Leppilampi and Silja Lassila (violin), Weronika Skowrońska (viola), and Oskari Elomaa (cello), accompanied by pianist Markus Vaara. The Oulu Cathedral concert was also offered as an on-demand online experience, produced by Ilmari Mäenpää, with the radio legend Aarno Cronvall conducting a pre-concert interview with Mr. Schroderus.

Schroderus transitioned from police officer to opera singer, then back to law enforcement, before emerging as a global sensation. His singing career took off after winning the Timo Mustakallio competition at the 2004 Savonlinna Opera Festival, leading to performances at the Finnish National Opera, the Savonlinna Opera Festival, and as a concert soloist worldwide. His YouTube video Rakastan elämää has amassed nearly four million views, solidifying his international fame.

Services Involved

My Role & Contributions

I was commissioned to photograph the performers at Oulu Music Center for tour marketing materials. Collaborating with Elisa Vesterbacka, who designed and directed the posing and framing as the director of photography, I handled the photoshoot, development, and delivery. The final visuals were used by HeartBrain’s graphics team for social media, web promotions, and YouTube content.
