Project Overview
Pianist-composer Miikka Lehtoaho‘s debut solo piano album is the result of a long-nurtured passion to express and explore his early memories, emotions, and stories tied to them.
Lehtoaho’s instrumental piano pieces, each inspired by repertoire he has been influenced by, transform in imaginative ways, delving deep into his childhood imagery. In between the piano sections, spoken poems narrate the musical journey.
The album was recorded on a grand piano at the congregation hall of Kokkokangas, Kempele, Finland.
Services Involved
My Role & Contributions
I had the privilege of serving as the technical producer for this captivating project, contributing my expertise in recording, editing, mixing, and mastering the tracks for publication. Lehtoaho himself took the role of the executive producer.
Cantor and singer Raimo Paaso provided valuable artistic direction during the recording process, offering insights into performance techniques to bring out the most emotionally resonant results.
The cover design was created by Anna-Maria Lehtoaho, while Katariina Edoh assisted the composer with the nuances of the English language in the poems.
This project marked one of the most detailed collaborations between a recording artist and myself, and I was thrilled to see the final product widely praised for both Lehtoaho’s musical expression and the record’s technical quality.
The album is available for streaming on all major platforms.
